Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Danilov

Александр Александрович Данилов

Biography

Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Danilov was born in 1908 in the Novoaleksandrovskiy region of Stavropol Oblast. The KGB had other data that placed his birth in 1894 in Maykop, Krasnodar Kray. It is unclear why the KGB’s data had a 14-year age gap. He had a higher education. He was called into the Soviet Army in 1941 and was assigned to the intelligence section of the Black Sea Fleet Air Force. In September 1942, he deserted and crossed to the Germans. He was recruited into a German law enforcement unit in which he participated in operations against Soviet forces near Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria. In March 1943, German forces sent him to the Dabendorf propaganda school in Germany, after which he served as a commander of a German military unit, in which he received German medals. He held the rank of captain in the ROA. In May 1945, British forces repatriated him to Soviet control and passed a screening point in the Kemerovo Oblast but disappeared from there. Nothing further is known of his whereabouts.[i]
