Biography

Vladimir Albertovich Obrok was born in 1918 in Narva, Estonia. In September 1942, he was air dropped behind German lines by the Leningrad NKGB directorate in the area of Kingisepp, in the Leningrad Oblast near the Estonian border. When he landed, he killed his teammate and surrendered to the Germans, who recruited him. From 1942 to 1945, he commanded the Abwehrguppe-312 in operations against Soviet partisans. He held an NCO rank in the German army and received medals. At the end of the war, he was held in the Zedelheim, Belgium POW camp, and later lived in the British zone of Germany. He was listed in the 1969 KGB Wanted List, but not the 1979 edition.[i]
